HAPPY GOVARDHAN 2016

What is Govardhan/Annakut Puja?

Gowardhan Meaning: Govardhan (translated as “a mountain of food”) is a Hindu festival in which devotees prepare and offer a large variety of vegetarian food to the murtis of Paramatma (God) as a mark of gratitude. For Vaishnavas, this day commemorates the incident in the Bhagavata Puran when Krishna lifted Govardhan hill on his pinky to provide the villagers of Vrindavan shelter from torrential rains. History of Govardhan Puja
Govardhan Puja

Govardhan Puja is otherwise called the Annakut puja (or Padwa, Bali Pratipada, and Gujarati New Year), implies worshiping the heap of grains (symbolizing the Govardhan Parvat), which is commended to recall the triumph of Lord Krishna over the self-important Indra. It is viewed as that, at this day Lord Krishna had vanquished the Lord of paradise, known as Indra. Master Krishna told the general population of the Vrindavan Dham to love the Nature in light of the fact that just nature is supporting you. He taught individuals that love the Govardhan Mountain (which conveys downpour to the earth) and quit worshiping Indra. Such kind of message of Lord Krishna to the general population was, for the most part, to educate the general population to deal with nature.

Why Govardhan Pooja is Celebrated (Significance)

An awesome pile of the sustenance, called as the Govardhan Parvat, is embellished by the general population at this event. It is viewed as that the Govardhan Parvat was lifted by Lord Krishna with a specific end goal to spare the life of individuals from the presumptuous Indra. Ruler Indra was tossing thunder and a ton of downpour over the earth and master Krishna had spared the millions of life by lifting the Govardhan Parvat on his little finger. From that point, the Annakut pooja is performed with the massive enthusiasm and willingness by the general population in different conditions of India, for example, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Mathura, Vrindavan, and Bihar.

How Govardhan Pooja is Celebrated (Celebration)

In some Indian states, Govardhan Puja is praised by making the hillocks of dairy animal’s waste which speaks to the Govardhan Parvat (Govardhan Parikrama). At that point, individuals finish the hillocks by blooms and love them. Lovers make rounds around the hillocks and appeal to Lord Govardhan to spare their life as usual. At a few spots, it is commended as a part of the Diwali, for example, the Padva or Bali Pratipada to celebrate King Bali. Also, at a few spots, it is appreciated as a Gujarati New Year on the grounds that the Vikram Samvat starts at this day.
